In the rare case that you feel unhappy with what you are receiving, you have the liberty of contacting the training department and talking to them directly. Training over? It is time for you to go solo. Yes, the organization is always there to help you out, but also wishes to see you start out as an operator as soon as possible. Remember that you are now in charge of equipment costing over $100,000 and probably cargo worth several times that amount—so do a good job! You owe it to the general public to indulge in safe driving on the roads; you owe it to the company’s customers (shippers) to make deliveries on time; and you owe it to the company to receive and bring over goods on time.

There are examples of truck drivers who have progressed to becoming driver trainers within short durations of nine to twelve months after joining a company.
